About the Ocky by Australis

  • The Ocky has an advanced hull shape, because it has:

    • Front to rear rocker for a smooth ride and easy turning

    • Soft chines on the front to smoothly glide across the water when turning.
Unlike kayaks with a centre keel that runs the full length of the hull, the Ocky doesn't catch water on the inside face of the keel when turning.

    • Hard chines on the rear help with responsive turning

    • The keel (moulded-in at the rear only) helps with straight line paddling and gives a point off which to pivot when turning.

  • The Ocky has be designed to the highest biomechanical standards:

    • The feet are positioned lower than the seat so that lower back and hamstring muscles have some room for impact absorption.

    • The feet are positioned hip width apart and do not pull the feet together putting pressure on the muscles that run down the outside of the leg from the hip to the knee.

  • The backrest is a "Deluxe" backrest.
It is made of material and padding for a softer, more comfortable ride.
It has a high back and seat pad, and is not just a "sling".

  •  The moulded-in top deck profile allows you to stack 2 or more Ocky's on top of each other for easy transporting and storage.
